When your hands are affected by crippling arthritis, trauma, infection or a congenital problem, sometimes the wisest course of action is surgery.
We know. The prospect of surgery can be scary. But this is a decision that you can make confidently along with your skilled and experienced care team at Kayal Orthopaedic Center. We’ve been performing delicate hand and wrist surgery in Paramus and nearby for years with outstanding results. Some conditions that could require hand surgery are sprains, fractures, tendon and nerve injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, trigger finger and trigger thumb.
There are many different kinds of hand surgery, including:
Your recovery will depend on a number of factors, including the type of surgery you have and your specific hand problem. Following your surgery, your hand may be placed in a bandage or splint to keep it immobile. Your surgeon also may place specific limits on work and other activities.
Your post-surgery rehabilitation may include physical therapy, occupational therapy—or both. These services are available at Kayal Orthopaedic Center. Rehab can help improve the strength and function of your hand. Your therapy may include specific exercises, heat, massage, traction, nerve stimulation, splinting and bandages to manage swelling.
Be patient. Your recovery could take time. And, for the best results, make sure to follow the instructions of your surgeon and care team.
