Total Hip Replacement Surgery

Get Back to Active Life Faster With Robotic Surgery, Direct Anterior Approach

Replacing the hip joint may be the best solution when physical therapy and anti-inflammatory medication provide no relief for debilitating joint pain. Pain can be the result of fractures, arthritis and wear and tear breaking down the cartilage and bones in the hip. Total or partial hip replacement allows patients of all ages to return to a full, active lifestyle.

In an effort to reduce recovery times and improve outcomes for total hip replacement surgery, Kayal Orthopaedic Center combines two innovative procedures to replace your hip: robotic-assisted surgery and the direct anterior approach (DAA). The Mako robotic arm allows your surgeon to align and position your new hip with greater precision and control. It pairs the surgeon’s skill and judgment with the robotic arm’s control and accuracy. DAA is a minimally invasive procedure that can accelerate rehabilitation because your surgeon does not need to detach your muscles and tendons.

We also offer traditional total hip replacement surgery when it is the best course of treatment.

Your surgeon makes relatively small cuts to the side of the joint to remove damaged or diseased cartilage and bone, which are replaced with implants or artificial materials.

Total Hip Replacement Isn’t Always the Answer

If only one part of the hip joint is damaged, a partial hip replacement may be the best treatment. This involves leaving the pelvic socket (acetabulum) intact, replacing only the femur head, and affixing a prosthetic device over the femur head to allow the joint to function smoothly.

Discover the advantages

Our surgeons use DAA and other minimally invasive surgical techniques that result in less postoperative pain and scar tissue buildup. They perform partial hip replacement and total hip replacement surgery without making the large incision traditionally required for the procedure. With minimally invasive surgery, small incisions translate to smaller scars, less blood loss and faster recovery. Patients notice a significant improvement in mobility. Candidates for total and partial hip replacement enjoy many benefits, including:

  • Reduced post-operative pain and trauma
  • Improved joint stability and range of motion
  • Pain-free movement
  • Expedited return to work and activity

Bergen County, New Jersey, patients can enjoy quality hip replacement surgery close to home in Franklin Lakes, Glen Rock, Paramus, Westwood, Ridgewood and the surrounding area.
