Arthroscopic surgery is a minimally invasive surgical method that uses a camera and specialized instruments to carry out any necessary joint surgery. These procedures are performed with tiny incisions, rather than traditional open incisions, which allows for less trauma to the body, reduced blood loss, smaller surgical scars, decreased need of pain medication, shorter hospital stays and faster rehabilitation.
The physicians at Kayal Orthopaedic Center perform “all-arthroscopic” repairs of many types of sports-related or non sports-related injuries, as well as wear-and-tear injuries. Our team has performed arthroscopic surgery on everyone from professional, college, high school and recreational athletes to elderly patients with degenerative injuries.
We believe that an informed patient is a happy and healthy patient. That’s why we encourage you to ask questions about your upcoming appointment or surgery. It’s also important to provide our team with any important medical records or personal information. To prep for an appointment and speed waiting time, visit our Patient Portal and download any necessary forms.Or, read more about your Pre-Op and Aftercare here.
Many arthroscopic procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis, which allows patients to return the same day to the comfort of their own home, without an overnight hospital stay.Compared to traditional open incisions, arthroscopy uses smaller incisions that result in less trauma to the body, reduced blood loss, smaller surgical scars and decreased need of pain medication. These patients typically experience reduced postoperative pain, shorter hospital stays, faster rehabilitation and an earlier return to work and normal daily activities.
