Unexpected pain and other post-operative challenges after orthopaedic surgery can be scary—especially when they occur when your surgeon’s office has closed for the day. It’s a situation that sends many patients to the local emergency room, where you can spend hours in the waiting room and could be exposed to patients with infectious viruses and other conditions. Plus, you might never even get to see a doctor who specializes in orthopaedics.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says 25 percent of patients use emergency rooms because their doctor’s office was not open or they didn’t have access to their specialty provider.
Patients of Kayal Orthopaedic Center and its affiliated centers, including Kayal Pain & Spine Center, have a safe, convenient and trusted alternative. We’re now offering phone consultations that allow you to speak with one of our trained medical professionals after our offices have closed. This after-hours service is essentially available anytime our offices are not open, including during weekends. So, if you have questions for your back surgeon in Westwood or your knee surgeon in Franklin Lakes, you will have access to this skilled, experienced and outstanding team.
Many post-surgery and other orthopaedic issues that occur after hours do not require a trip to the emergency room, but patients feel like they have no choice. We are excited to offer our patients this option—an alternative that allows them to remain in their homes while getting the answers they need to resolve the challenges.
This service has numerous advantages, including:
So, how does it work? Actually, it’s very easy. Simply call us at 844.777.0910. You’ll hear a series of prompts. Make sure to choose the option that this is an urgent call and you would like to speak to a physician’s assistant.
Currently, this service is available mainly for our current patients. However, if a new patient with a serious problem (such as a bone fracture) calls and can’t wait until our offices are open, depending on the circumstances, one of our physician’s assistants or doctors will meet the patient at the hospital.
Don’t forget that our Paramus office is now open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays for your convenience. It’s just another way for you to receive excellent care from the Kayal Pain & Spine and Kayal Orthopaedic Center team.
