Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
Non-Invasive Pain Relief
Platelet rich plasma (PRP), also called autologous conditioned plasma (ACP), is an emerging technology that helps patients heal from orthopaedic injuries and surgical procedures.
The PRP process begins by spinning the patient’s blood in a centrifuge to separate red and white blood cells from the platelet rich plasma. After centrifugation, this plasma—enriched with growth factors and proteins—is sterilely injected into the bone, cartilage, nerve, joint, ligament, muscle, or tendon site to expedite healing.
PRP therapy can expedite rehabilitation, or even decrease the need for surgical intervention. Often, patients feel a noticeable decrease in pain and increase in mobility just days after a PRP injection.
