Bone Marrow Aspiration

Award-Winning Team, World-Class Care

Bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) is an FDA-approved, non-embryonic stem cell treatment in which the body’s stem cells are used to spur tissue regeneration and hasten healing.

Harvested from the patient’s own bone marrow, these regenerative cells are injected into the injury site in the same manner as platelet rich plasma (PRP). During BMAC, your orthopaedic surgeon extracts bone marrow from the hip or pelvic bone. Spinning the marrow in a centrifuge, he or she separates the regenerative stem cells and injects them into the painful site. After just two to three weeks, patients experience increased joint and muscle stability and may pursue physical therapy to strengthen the problem area.
