In addition, herniated discs can press against spinal nerves, causing symptoms in the buttocks, legs, and other areas where nerves travel.
While herniated discs are relatively common, the good news is that the majority of these cases do not require surgery. Herniated disc symptoms may be alleviated with rest, heat and ice, walking and light activity, and physical therapy.
