NJ
orthopedist Robert A. Kayal, MD is highly trained in the field of joint replacement surgery. Whereas most Orthopaedic Surgeons perform about 20 joint replacements per year, Dr. Kayal routinely performs more than 200-250 joint replacements each year. Furthermore, Dr. Kayal is the regional pioneer of the partial knee and the patellofemoral knee replacement technology and has been performing these procedures for years. In fact, Kayal has performed more of these surgeries than any other Orthopaedic Surgeon in the region. In addition to introducing this technology to the medical community years ago, he also introduced the concept of "outpatient joint replacement surgery" to the local community and continues to perform outpatient unicompartmental and patellofemoral knee replacements on a routine basis.
Dr. Kayal possesses the distinction of performing the first ever minimally invasive partial knee replacement and patellofemoral knee joint replacement at the
Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ and at
Patient Care Associates, LLC in Englewood, NJ and performs this procedure at the
Hackensack University Medical Center, in Hackensack, NJ, as well. These surgical procedures incorporate only a 3 to 4-inch incision as opposed to the typical 8 to 12-inch incision often required for total knee replacement surgery. As a result, these patients are discharged home the same day of surgery, endure no cutting of tendons or muscle, recuperate much faster and experience much less pain than those undergoing total knee replacement surgery.

received a partial knee replacement through our minimally
invasive surgical procedure:
