MINIMALLY INVASIVE ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY: rotator cuff

NJ orthopedist Minimally Invasive Rotator Cuff & Shoulder Surgery Robert A. Kayal, MD, performs complete arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs without making the large opening traditionally required for the procedure. During arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, Dr. Kayal completes the procedure using small insicions, which reduces disturbance of the shoulder muscle. In addition, minimally invasive surgical patients often return home the same day of the shoulder procedure since it's typically performed on an outpatient basis.

What is a Rotator Cuff Tear?

Rotator cuff muscles serve to stabilize and move the shoulder joint. Usually, when the rotator cuff insertion is torn away from the bone, the muscles do not heal well without surgery. Some orthopedic patients may improve with intensive physical therapy, but many experience ongoing pain, muscle spasms, severely reduced range of motion, and fluid accumulation within the joint. If rotator cuff injuries are not repaired, calcium deposits and arthritis can form, causing permanent pain and mobility issues.

About Rotator Cuff Repairs

When Dr. Robert A. Kayal and his team of elite NJ orthopedic surgeons perform your rotator cuff surgery arthroscopically, the procedure is less traumatic to the body. In addition, you’ll experience reduced blood loss, small surgical scars—and a decreased need for narcotics or other pain medications. Minimally invasive surgery patients usually have less postoperative pain, scarring and scar tissue buildup, too—which expedites rehabilitation and leads to a faster return to daily activities.

Kayal Orthopaedic Center is conveniently located in Ridgewood, NJ and Franklin Lakes, NJ, and our New Jersey shoulder surgeons treat patients from Hudson County, Passaic County, Bergen County and Essex County.
